Yes. In typical standalone Pingora deployments that are directly exposed, a remote attacker who can send arbitrary HTTP/1.1 requests to the proxy can attempt request smuggling via crafted Upgrade requests.

Not necessarily. If the Pingora endpoint processes unauthenticated HTTP traffic, an attacker only needs network-level access to send specially crafted requests. Authentication may not be required to trigger the parsing discrepancy.
